Winter(From Oct 15 to April 31): Calgary/Canmore/Banff - Marble Canyon (60 min) - Lake Louise, optional afternoon tea at your own expense (90 min) - Spiral Tunnels (pass by) - Emerald Lake (30 min) - Natural Bridge (20 min) - Banff/Canmore/Calgary.
The journey officially begins from Calgary. Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of the city, we pass through the picturesque town of Canmore, surrounded by natural beauty, and begin our exploration of the Rocky Mountain National Parks. Our first stop is Marble Canyon, where a light hike allows us to fully appreciate the canyon’s unique terrain and waterfall views. Marble Canyon features seven bridges for hiking, zigzagging over the deep limestone gorge and the winding stream below. The canyon is formed by the convergence of Tokumm Creek and Vermilion River, where fossils of Cambrian soft-bodied creatures from millions of years ago were discovered, making it quite awe-inspiring. A narrow trail along the creek offers views of the gorge from the bridge, with frozen waterfalls cascading down on the right, creating a breathtaking landscape with refreshing pools of water that leave a lasting impression.
The journey continues northward to the snow-white Lake Louise, nestled beneath the Victoria Glacier. From January to April (based on the official opening time), the grand Ice Magic Festival takes place here, attracting artists and ice sculpture enthusiasts from around the world to create a beautiful fairytale world. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, located by the lakeshore, appears like a painting, with snow-capped mountains and frozen lakes reflecting one another.
Optional Activities: (choose 1)
Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Afternoon Tea
Snow Shoeing: (Borrow snowshoes to step in the soft snow and have fun!)This activity is subject to weather conditions and the freezing status of the lake.
Continuing westward, we pass by the Spiral Tunnels, built with the blood and sweat of Pacific Railway workers, and enter Yoho National Park. We arrive at the tranquil Emerald Lake, as if stepping into a fairy-tale world. Our final stop is the Natural Bridge, where the Kicking Horse River has eroded the rocks to form a bridge-like structure. Here, you can admire the beautiful scenery composed of the river, distant pine-covered mountains, and shallow riverbanks.
Summer(From June 1 to Oct 14): Calgary/Canmore/Banff – Marble Canyon in Kootenay National Park (45 minutes) – Lake Louise (75 minutes) – Moraine Lake (45 minutes) - Lake Minnewanka (90 minutes/Optional Add-on Cruise with fees) – Banff/Canmore/Calgary
In the morning, depart from the hotel and head west, passing the layered Castle Mountain, a famous peak in the Rocky Mountains located between Banff and Lake Louise, serving as an impressive landmark along the Trans-Canada Highway. Don’t miss the beautiful scenery along the way, as it will soon give way to even more unparalleled views.
At Marble Canyon, which features seven bridges for hiking in the winter, you'll zigzag over the deep limestone gorge and the winding creek below. The canyon is formed by the convergence of Tokumm Creek and Vermilion River, where fossils of Cambrian soft-bodied creatures from millions of years ago were discovered, making it quite a magnificent sight.
In the afternoon, continue to explore another fairytale-like gem in the Rocky Mountains—Lake Louise. Under the sunlight, the mineral-rich waters reflect a mesmerizing blue, surrounded by the towering Victoria Glacier on three sides, earning it the title 'Sapphire of the Rockies'. Looking back from the lakeshore, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise stands quietly among the pine forests, waiting for visitors to explore.
Next, we visit Moraine Lake, where the crystal-clear green waters reflect the rugged peaks of the Ten Peaks. From a high vantage point, the breathtaking views of the lake and mountains seem timeless.
Afterward, we head to Lake Minnewanka, a filming location for the Hollywood movie The Revenant, where you can opt for a boat tour at your own expense to explore the scenic spots featured in tourism advertisements. Along the way, you’ll also have the opportunity to stop and take photos at Two Jack Lake.
The journey ends with a brief stop at Banff Town for a short break before returning to Calgary.
