The state capital of Illinois and one-time home of United States' Abraham Lincoln celebrates its association with the country's 16th president. Springfield was incorporated in 1832 and Lincoln lived there from 1837 until 1861. The city's motto is "Home of President Abraham Lincoln." Its attractions include Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Abraham Lincoln President Library and Museum, Lincoln Tomb, Lincoln Depot, Old State Capitol, Abraham Lincoln's New Salem State Park, Dana-Thomas House and Illinois State Museum.
