Being Virginia's only caverns that have elevator service, visitors don't have to hike to get to the underground world of wonder with sites like Grotto of the Gods, Bacon Formation, Beyond the Veil, Diamond Cascade, Rainbow Lake and Cardross Castle. Shenandoah Caverns are located in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley and opened as a show cave in 1922. Its Bacon Formation was featured in "National Geographic" magazine back in 1964 and its caves maintain a year-round temperature of 54 degrees.
