Prince Rupert is a port city in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Located on Kaien Island about midway up the province, Prince Rupert is the major urban center for the people of BC’s North Coast. The city was named for Prince Rupert of the Rhine, who was the first Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company. Prince Rupert is renowned for its many wildlife viewing trips, which feature whales, eagles, salmon, and grizzly bears. Many cruise ships stop in Prince Rupert on their way between Alaska and Vancouver.
