The Northern California city located along the Feather River was the destination that thousands of prospectors rushed to when gold was discovered in the nearby Bidwell Bar in 1848. Oroville was first established as Ophir City in the mid-1800s and was incorporated in 1906. It is the main location of the Berry Creek Rancheria of Tyme Maidu Indians. City points of interest are the Oroville Dam, Feather River Fish Hatchery, Oroville Chinese Temple, Mother Orange Tree and Riverbend Park.
