About Kings Canyon National Park

This beautiful 461,901-acre national park in California's Sierra Nevada range offers giant sequoia trees, canyons, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and wildlife. Naturalist John Muir popularized the Kings Canyon area back in 1873 and the park was established in 1940. It is divided into the General Grant Grove and Redwood Mountain Grove. Points of interest are the General Grant Tree, Dusy Basin, Spanish Peak, Boyden Cave and Junction Peak. The park is adjacent to Sequoia National Park and the National Park Service operates both together.
