Greater Sudbury, also commonly known as just Sudbury, is a city in Ontario, Canada founded in 1883. Sudbury was not formed until 2001 by merging cities and towns of the previous Regional Municipality of Sudbury. Sudbury's economy was once dominated by the mining industry in the 20th century; today more than 345 mining industries are located in Sudbury. Sudbury is also home to the Big Nickel, a 30-foot tall replica of a 1951 Canadian Nickel planted on a hill, one of Sudbury's most famous attractions. Another famous attraction in Sudbury's is the Inco Superstack, which is the tallest chimney in Canada, standing at 1,250 feet tall, and is the 33rd tallest freestanding structure in the world.
