About Grand Canyon North Rim

This less-crowded section of Grand Canyon National Park is 1,000 feet higher than the South Rim at an average of 8,000 feet tall. Grand Canyon North Rim has fewer tourists, less development and more quiet than the park's more popular South Rim. Points of interest are Phantom Ranch, Indian Garden, Roaring Springs, Bright Angel Point, Cape Royal, Point Imperial, Walhalla Overlook, Roosevelt Point and North Rim Visitor Center.

Grand Canyon National Park

This 1,904-square-mile national park established in 1919 spotlights the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon - one of "The Seven Wonders of the Natural World" and nearly 2,000 million years old. Grand Canyon National Park consists of the natural wonder's North, East and South Rim with the latter attracting the majority of the tourists with its viewpoints, lodgings, services and activities. Mule rides are a popular activity and should be booked well in advance. The park is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site and was featured on the 2010 "America the Beautiful" quarter collection. Points of interest are the Grand Canyon Visitor's Center, Grand Canyon Village, Desert View Drive, Hermit Road, Yavapai Museum of Geology and Phantom Ranch. Almost five million people visit the Grand Canyon per year. Its West Rim is maintained and operated by the Hualapai Native American Tribe.
