About Estes Park

The town of Estes Park is a popular vacation destination located in Larimer County, Colorado. Estes Park lies along the Big Thompson River and is the location of the headquarters of the Rocky Mountains National Park. Estes Park was originally inhabited by the Araphao Native Americans in the 19th century, before being occupied by Europeans by the mid 19th century. One popular site is the Stanley Hotel which was built in 1909, which has hosted many notable guests including Theodore Roosevelt and Stephen Spielberg which later inspired him to write the film "The Shining."
