About Canmore

The town of Canmore, located in Alberta, Canada is situated southeast of the Banff National Park, also located in the Alberta's Rockies. The town was officially name Canmore in 1884 by Canadian Pacific Railway director Donald A. Smith. The town is known for its coal mining history; the first coal mining charter was granted by Queen Victoria in 1886. There are restrictions for future rural development due to its climate and geographic location.
